Where will we do the shoot?

TWK Studio is a portrait Studio that can give you the best of both worlds. Natural light on-location photography means the variety of background is endless. For the occassions when the weather is inclement or just because you like a plain white or a classic studio background we have that as well. Maybe you just don’t have time during the day.

New-born sessions are best done in the familiar surroundings of the family home. TWK Studio photographers will bring along a portable location setup that takes away the worry of  ”I don’t have anywhere in my house to take photos.” As long as we get indirect light into the area, it will be great. We can bring supplementary lighting if required.

For non-newborn sessions, outdoor locations are fantastic. There are plenty of locations that would make a great backdrop for your family’s portraits – water, sand, buildings, old fences or barns….the variety is endless. The early morning and late afternoon/early evening light works best for photographs taken outdoors. Brisbane is better in the afternoon than the morning.

We recommend allowing up to 1 to 1 1/2 hours (maybe more for newborns) for your photographs to be taken. The best time needs to be worked around the schedule of the children. You need to make sure that they are rested and the shoot isn’t scheduled in the middle of their sleep time. Children may play, draw, read, run around with Dad or siblings, and do whatever they would normally do if the photographer wasn’t around. Kids are  kids, they often get bored or get tired easily, so short breaks for changing outfits, snacks, or even just a chat are all part of the fun. It’s sometimes these moments that create the best images.

With older kids, they may have a hobby, or a sport, or a special interest that really appeals to them. You can highlight their interests by bringing along a few props that reflect that interest.
